- Wooden paddle (hoe) with carved decoration on the handle and on the upper part of the rear of the blade. Some hoes are believed to have been used primarily for ceremonies and gift exchange This paddle is believed to have been collected in New Zealand by Captain Cook on his first Pacific voyage. The New South Wales Government eventually acquired it and donated it to the Museum in 1895.
