Carving of Luli, a malagan of the Mandak area. A ceremony is held in which men catch fish, these carvings are carried out to sea and thrown into the water. The fish holds an ornament in its mouth representing the ornaments held in the mouths of men in ceremonial dance. Purchased from Emma Farrell, Northern New Ireland, New Ireland Province, PNG, 1892.
