Malagan mask made from alstonia scholaris wood and ornamented with shell, lime, ochre, paint, and barkcloth. The bird mouthpiece attached to the mouth shows one of the traditional styles of using this piece during a ritual dance. Purchased from Captain Farrell in 1887. Northern New Ireland, New Ireland Province.
