Malagan mask similar to E000569. Made from alstonia scholaris, turbo petholatus, lime, ochre, fibres and hardwood spikes. The dancer performs in slow movements as the masks can be very heavy. Purchased from Captain Farrell, Northern New Ireland, New Ireland Province, PNG. 1887.
