Malagan figure carved from alstonia scholaris wood and ornamented with shell, lime and ochre. This tall figure is holding a snake which represents the totems of the clan. The ornaments shown on the figure mimic the decoration worn by men on New Ireland. Purchased from Captain Farrell in 1887. Northern New Ireland, New Ireland Province, PNG.
