This painting, ‘The Fire Ordeal of Sita’ was painted probably by Nyoman Laya in Kamasan in the 1920s. It is painted on European cloth and at one time was used as a curtain, it has Chinese coins (kepeng) attached to the top. Anthony Forge collected this painting in 1971-72 from the Ward temple in the Balinese village of Gelgel. Size 225x91cm.
