Knitted bark string bag used to carry slingstones. The finely woven bag could be worn around the hips using the net-like belt, so that the wearer had the contents immdiately to hand. At the same time, such a hip bag did not restrict mobility or the user's operation of the sling. Collected from New Caledonia during Cook's second voyage to the Pacific.
